Tantcui Tantcui (aka Dot Eat Dot aka 777minus111)

‘Tantcui Tantcui’ = ‘Dance Dance’ in Russian.
I played guitar in different groups being a youngster. Then it was my first ever trance party experience at some abandoned plant near Moscow and it was really cool. Then there were the legendary Anton Kubikov parties on Thursdays. So, all of us were absent on Fridays at schools / jobs. Frankly speaking, i never felt the difference between techno and house on those parties (and as i understood later, that was not techno sound, as i heard later). Oh, and there was my first E.
Then I left Russia, and lived in Philadelphia, USA for 9 months (2004-2005). I’ve listened to IDM (Autechre-likes) and made some 8-bit stuff (under ’777minus111′ pseudonym) during that period. Dance music in general sounded too commercial and uninspiring to me. But i liked all that ‘rave’ thing, because I experimented with drugs. So the music was like a background for a ‘big holiday’. I got involved into Funkshun posse in USA right when they brought Neil Lanstrumm with live act. All the DJ booth was packed with different equipment and all the crowd was only 15 people. I was totally stunned of his performance because he played with all that numerous hardware without any computer. That was magic and techno music stuck in my head for a long time since then and stays there even now. I was dancing like an animal. I realized that I’ve just heard real techno music for the first time in my life. Even though I didn’t realize what exactly happened. Then I started messing around with guys from that posse. They got some equipment at home (303, 606, 808, 909…) and we used to jam often. Then I left USA, returned to Moscow and started listening to Plastikman, trying to make minimal kind of stuff myself. Since 2010 i started using another alias for production – Dot Eat Dot.
